Barcode vs QR code: when to use each
A one-dimensional barcode is usually best when a short product identifier must work with existing checkout equipment. A QR code can carry more data and is convenient for phone users. Neither format proves that its content is safe or accurate: the person creating the code is responsible for the destination and the user should verify it before acting.

Choose the scanning audience
Use the format supported by the real scanner. Many dedicated and camera-based scanners read Code 128, while consumer phone cameras commonly recognize QR codes.
Keep the payload short
Shorter values create simpler symbols with larger modules and more reliable printing. For customer content, encode a concise HTTPS URL instead of a large paragraph.
Use a valid product identifier
UPC and EAN numbers have registration and check-digit rules. For internal inventory, a unique SKU encoded as Code 128 is often more appropriate.
Leave a quiet zone
Keep clear space around the code. Do not crop bars or QR finder patterns, and avoid low contrast, reflective stock, or very small output.
Verify the final print
Test the printed result, not only the screen preview. Check the decoded value character by character and try the equipment used in the actual workflow.

Privacy and limits
These tools do not require an account. Business data stays on the device unless you choose to open an external provider. Keep your own backups and verify every document or calculation before relying on it in a real operation.
