Account-free store credit

A simple store-credit ledger for a small shop

Informal store credit works best when every movement is recorded and both sides understand the balance. Fleto POS provides a local ledger for customer charges and payments. Records stay on the device; there is no multi-device sync and Fleto cannot recover the ledger if the device and backups are lost.

Step by step

  1. Set one clear rule

Decide who may use store credit, a practical limit, and when payment is expected. Keep the policy visible so staff does not invent exceptions at checkout.

  2. Store only what is needed

A name, optional phone number, and local note are usually enough. Do not store identity documents, bank information, or sensitive details that are unnecessary for collection.

  3. Create the charge from checkout

Select Store credit and the correct customer when completing a sale. The ledger receives the charge while the sale keeps an immutable snapshot of its items.

  4. Record each payment separately

Do not overwrite the original charge. Add a new payment entry so the running balance retains an understandable history. Print an operational receipt when useful.

  5. Review and back up

Review outstanding balances during closeout. Export the store-credit CSV for reconciliation and the JSON backup for local recovery.
